O cientista britânico Peter Higgs, ganhador do Prêmio Nobel de Física em 2013 por seus trabalhos teóricos sobre partículas elementares, consideradas a chave da estrutura da matéria, morreu na segunda-feira aos 94 anos, anunciou a Universidade de Edimburgo nesta terça-feira (9).
“Morreu pacificamente em sua casa na segunda-feira, 8 de abril, depois de uma curta enfermidade”, informou a universidade em nota. O físico foi reconhecido pela teoria do “Bóson de Higgs”, cuja demonstração prática, quase meio século depois, lhe rendeu o Nobel.
